Unit IV

4.1 Google Drive

Google Drive is a free cloud-based storage service that enables users to store and access files online. The service syncs stored documents, photos and more across all of the user's devices, including mobile devices, tablets and PCs.
Google Drive integrates with the company's other services and systems -- including Google Docs, Gmail, Android, Chrome, YouTube, Google Analytics and Google+. Google Drive competes with Microsoft OneDrive, Apple iCloud, Box, Dropbox and SugarSync.

Features Of Google Drive

Your stuff, your way – Drive Features. 15 GB space. Keep any file. Share how you want. ...
Built to work with Google. Save Gmail attachments. Powerful search. Google Photos. ...
Work smarter with apps. Docs, Sheets, Slides. Google Forms. ...
Take Drive even further. Scan documents. Work offline.

Uses Of Google Drive:
1. Backup Your Precious Files
Do you have photos of a family vacation that mean the world to you or some important business documents that you just cannot afford to lose? Google Drive is a better storage alternative than an external hard drive or USB stick because it can both begin to malfunction or become corrupted over time, meaning that you’ can lose your precious files forever. Not with Google Drive, though.
2. Send Large Files to Family, Friends or Co-Workers
If you happen to use Gmail, also using Google Drive will allow you to send large files to your contacts directly from your email account.
3. Use Google Drive App to Access Documents
Should you need to access any files while on the go, you can download the Google Drive app to your smartphone. You can use this if you need to give a presentation or show proof of purchase.
4. Efficient Built-in Search Engine
Google Drive has its very own built-in search engine, which allows you to search by file types, such as image, Word document or video, as well as by keyword. It also allows you to search by owner.
5. Optical Character Recognition Feature
Do you happen to be looking up someone or something in particular? Google Drive’s optical character recognition technology is capable of scanning through documents saved by other users and finding the word (or name) that you searched for. It can also be helpful if you’re conducting research on a historical topic.
6. Share Photos and Videos with Your Contacts
If your family members or friends also have their own Google Drive accounts, you can all share files with each other. This is especially handy if you have to travel for your occupation and need to work on a project simultaneously with colleagues while in completely different locations.
7. Open and Edit Various Kinds of Document
Are you using a computer that doesn’t have the software you need to open a certain kind of file? Don’t fret – upload it to your Google Drive account and open it from there. Google Drive allows you to open anything from Adobe Suite files to spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents.
8. Fantastic Built-in Image Recognition Technology
This one is more of a neat feature than a benefit, but it’s still worth mentioning. Google Drive’s image recognition technology can actually recognize the content of your pictures. If you’ve visited a famous landmark on a recent vacation and upload a picture of you in front of it, the picture will come up when other users search for that landmark using Google Drive’s search.
9. Completely Free to Use
Google Drive offers you all these benefits while being entirely free to use.

4.2 What is Google Forms?

Google Forms is a free form builder tool that enables users to create surveys and questionnaires online in order to collect and organize information, simple or complex. Forms can be used to plan events, manage registrations, set up a poll, collect contact information, create a pop quiz, and more. Users can send all collected data to a spreadsheet and analyze data right in Google Sheets.

When creating a form with Google Forms, users can select from multiple question types, customize values, and drag-and-drop to reorder questions. Question types include dropdowns, multiple-choice, and linear scales. Users can also use page branching and question skip logic in order to show questions based on answers. Images, videos (including YouTube videos), logos, and custom logic can be added to forms in order to send professional-looking surveys and questionnaires to individuals or customers. Google Forms will automatically suggest a set of colours to style the form, or users can choose from an assortment of curated themes.

Create a Google Form

Google Forms is the best thing since sliced bread. Here are 5 steps to a Google Form.
1. Create a Form
There are multiple ways to create a Google Form. One is to go to Google Drive and click on the New button and create a new Form. If you go to forms.google.com you can see a filtered list of your Forms as well as template options for creating a new form.
2. Title the Form
Title the Form and then in the upper left click where it says “Untitled Form.” This will match the Form title.
3. Type Your Question
Google Forms is super smart. It can pretty accurately guess what type of question you want to use. Type the question and see if it guesses correctly that you want a multiple-choice or short answer.
Notice when I typed “What is your name” the Google Form automagically changed from Multiple choice to Short answer.
4. Click on Send to Share
The Send button at the top right gives you multiple options for how to distribute the Form. Sorry, no option to share to Google Classroom! The default is to have you send the Form via email. Notice the link icon to get the link to the Form.
This will give you an option to Copy the link to the Google Form. You can choose to share a short URL if you prefer.
5. View Responses
After distributing the Form you would like to see what the responses were. You need to be in the Edit screen of the Google Form to view the responses. Go to either forms.google.com or Google Drive and locate the Form.
Locate the Responses tab in the Form. There are 3 ways to view the results. The default is “Summary.” Charts and graphs are automatically created. To view the specific responses of an individual click on the “Individual” button. In my opinion, the BEST way to view Google Forms responses is in the spreadsheet. Click on the green spreadsheet icon to view all responses at once.
create a class:
Open a Web browser and go to classroom.google.com. You have to sign in with your Google Apps for Education account.
On the Welcome screen, click the plus sign at the top and choose Create Class.
In the Create a Class dialogue box, type in the Class Name and Section.
Click Create.
